Event Description

Harbinger Gallery is excited to present a feature of new jewellery by artist, Karli Sears. Sears is an artist recognized for her elaborate glass structures, created from multiple forms, often evoking forms found in nature. She is also known for her delicate-looking jewellery also inspired by the natural world and its forms and colours. Sears' glass and silver jewellery, created with a range of techniques and materials, echo the ephemeral qualities of nature.

Karli is a graduate of Canada's leading glass program at Sheridan College, and has since been a resident artist and teacher in the collective environments of Toronto's Craft Studio at Harbourfront Centre, and the Living Arts Centre, Mississauga. Her work has been supported by a number of grants and scholarships. Sears' work has been published in the New Glass Review 22, 24 and 30 as well as Tina Oldknow's retrospective book 25 Years of New Glass Review. Collections include the Corning Museum of Glass, the Celebrity Equinox Cruiseship and many private collections. In 2010 Karli will participate in a Botanical-themed exhibition of international glass at Denmark's Glasmuseet Ebeltoft.
