Basic silversmithing in Fredericton

Basic Silversmithing.
A five day workshop will be offered at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design from July 6 to 10, 2009. I have taught this course a number of times in Nunavut, Haliburton Ontario and here at NBCCD. Five days will give you the basics for raising a vessel. If you are not a novice but would love to work on an unfinished project, this studio course is for you too.
Check out www.edventures.ca for a list of summer courses offered in Fredericton, NB. There are a number of co… Continue

hello Brigitte...as you have already guessed...I didn't make it to see you....we were late getting to Gagetown on the Monday night ...and just ran out of time. It was too easy to get side tracked in the eastern provinces. Being from NWOntario, it was too much fun to just check out "that over there"...we only have one road here to follow...not mush in options. Perhaps sometime in the future....Linda

Brigitte, I'm travelling to NB and NS at the end of this month june 25 to 29...a holiday before I head home from teaching in Nunavik....visiting friends in Gagetown and Halifax, and I'm thinking it would be fun to meet you and your work in real life. Let me know what you think...and if you have time...Linda

Oui, je connais Chantal G, elle m'a enseigné à l'École de Joaillerie de Québec. Ses couteaux sont si surprenants qu'ils donnent le goût de travailler plus fort.

Hi Brigitte! Nice to connect with you again.

I'm not doing all that much out here, just trying the mountain life thing out, waiting for snow and making jewelry everyday. I finally have a proper studio, and I've been getting lots of work done. The metal prices have been on my side lately so I'm going to try a few new things.

What have you been up to?

Thanks Brigitte!
Yes I did study under Charles and Dee, wonderful instructors...I learned so much and even though I graduated in 1999 I am still just taking up some of the techniques I learned back then and reintroducing them into my new body of works. Such as foldforming. And I am going to finally dust off my hydraulic press and start some hydraulic die forming.
I was just admiring your work and the scale...I especially love that tea pot!

Hi Brigitte
I will send you a photo of the teaset and of ad. But since I have no camera, I have no photos of myself! I can't seem to add pictures here, so I will email to you!

2013 SNAG Conference in Toronto

The Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) 2013 Conference is officially scheduled to take place in Toronto, Canada in May 2013. The conference will be co-hosted by George Brown College and Harbourfront Centre. The conference co-chairs are Paul McClure, professor at George Brown College, and Melanie Egan, Head of Craft Department at Harbourfront Centre. The specific dates in May 2013 and a specific conference theme have yet to be established.

It is hoped that a variety of organizations, institutions and individuals will volunteer their participation to make this conference
as inclusive, diverse, exciting and original as the Canadian jewellery and metalsmithing community is. Volunteers are needed to organize related exhibitions and events, organize pre-conference workshops, and help with conference planning and implementation.

It has been over twenty five years (Toronto, 1985) since the SNAG conference was held outside the United States. In addition to serving
the entire SNAG membership, the Toronto 2013 conference will provide a platform for promoting Canadian jewellery and metalsmithing to a local, national and international audience.

To express your interest in becoming involved. Please contact Paul McClure at pmcclure@georgebrown.ca or Melanie Egan at rmegan
@harbourfrontcentre.com
