- In 2003, I was busy working on a math-based thesis for my MBA at the University of New Brunswick. Looking for a bit of relief from the stress of writing the thesis, I began dabbling in jewellery design, experimenting with silver and semi-precious stones. I became so captivated by the processes involved in working with silver that the thesis ended up being behind schedule. A friend commented that the jewellery-making was not "anti-stress" but "anti-thesis" and thus Antithesis Designs was born.
Of course, I did finish my thesis and graduated with a Masters Degree in Business in 2004. Now, four years later, Antithesis Designs is thriving as I continue to design, create and sell my jewellery. I also teach the art of silver wire and chainmaille.
Although I prefer the properties of sterling silver, I also work with fine silver, gold, gold filled wire and copper.
- Share some of your career highlights or goals.
- In the past two years I have decreased my working hours outside my craft and have also increased income from sales of jewellery.
