BIOGRAPHY
________________________________________________________________________
Francine Walker is a passionate metalsmith, whose mind is constantly stimulated with creative ideas. She loves to create one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art that explore texture, and simple geometrical shapes. Gold, silver and gemstones are her favorite materials to create with. Custom and production designs are made by the artist personally to ensure originality and quality.
She is a studio graduate of Jewellery and Small Object Design from Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, British Columbia, as well as a graduate of Interior Design from Mount Royal Collage in Calgary, Alberta.
Francine lives with her musician husband and Lego-building-dare-devil boys. She creates from her studio overlooking Lake Okanagan in Kelowna, BC.

ARTIST STATEMENT
_________________________________________________________________________
I have a deep passion for design and jewellery. My studio is one of my favorite places to be. I love my job and creating little precious works of wearable art. I have designed on many scales, but I keep coming back to the tiny scale of jewellery. I often find my inspiration from within my studio and from my tools. The most creative part of working with jewellery is the metal itself. There are so many possibilities in which metal can be formed and used. I love the contrast between an organic texture and a classic smooth high polish finish. My goal is not to over work and complicate a piece, but to keep the lines clean, based on simple geometric shapes. I work with gold, silver, brass, copper, precious and semi-precious stones.
